Navigation: Policies > Publisher Governance & Transparency > Business Model, Revenue Sources, Advertising & Direct Marketing Policy
This policy sets out CorayNova's standards for business model transparency, revenue sources, advertising, sponsorship, institutional or society cooperation, direct marketing, and the separation of commercial activity from editorial decision-making.
CorayNova maintains a clear boundary between publishing operations and academic editorial judgment. APCs, institutional arrangements, sponsorship, advertising, marketing cooperation, and other revenue or cooperation models must not influence editorial assessment, peer review, acceptance, rejection, correction, retraction, or appeals.
• Scope
This policy applies to CorayNova's publisher website, the CorayNova Journals Platform, CorayNova-owned journals, partner journals, hosted journals, journal proposals, institutional cooperation, society cooperation, advertising, sponsorship, direct marketing, APC-related communications, and publishing service communications.
• Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to CorayNova staff and representatives, journal editors, guest editors, editorial boards, societies, institutional partners, advertisers, sponsors, service providers, marketing contacts, authors, reviewers, readers, and libraries.
• Policy Statement
CorayNova-owned journals operate on an open access basis as a publishing principle. Partner journals, special publishing arrangements, hosted journals, or future journal models may use access models identified in the relevant agreement and on the journal and article pages.
CorayNova may receive revenue or support from APCs, institutional cooperation, society cooperation, journal hosting or platform cooperation, publishing services, training, promotion support, technical services, sponsorship, advertising, or other approved cooperation. Any revenue source or cooperation arrangement must be transparent and must not influence independent editorial decision-making.
CorayNova accepts third-party advertising as a permitted category but currently does not operate third-party advertising on its publisher website or journal platform. If advertising is introduced, it must be clearly identified, separated from editorial content, and subject to this policy.
• Procedures and Standards
Area
Policy standard
APCs and fees
APCs, submission fees where adopted by an individual journal, waivers, discounts, refunds, invoices, and tax matters must be disclosed clearly on the relevant journal page where applicable.
Submission fees
Whether submission fees are charged is determined by each journal. CorayNova urges journals to be cautious about submission fees and to avoid them where possible to support responsible and accessible publishing.
Institutional and society cooperation
Cooperation may support publishing operations, platform services, training, metadata, journal hosting, outreach, or open access arrangements, but must not influence editorial decisions.
Sponsorship
Sponsorship is permitted only when disclosed, appropriately labeled, and separated from editorial decision-making.
Advertising
Advertising must be clearly identified, must not be misleading, and must not be presented as editorial content or endorsement.
Direct marketing
Direct marketing must be accurate, proportionate, lawful, and respectful. It must not promise acceptance, publication, indexing, metrics, fixed review timelines, or database coverage.
CorayNova prohibits misleading marketing, false claims of indexing or membership, false metrics, guaranteed acceptance, guaranteed publication, guaranteed peer review duration, guaranteed database coverage, or claims that commercial payment can improve editorial outcomes.
Editorial decisions must be based on scope, scholarly quality, evidence, ethics, peer review where applicable, editorial judgment, and policy compliance. Commercial relationships, advertising, sponsorship, institutional arrangements, APCs, submission fees, or operational convenience must not affect editorial assessment or publication record decisions.
