Policy Framework, Standards, Versioning & Updates

Navigation: Policies > Publisher Governance & Transparency > Policy Framework, Standards, Versioning & Updates

This policy sets out CorayNova Academic Press's framework for maintaining publisher-level policies, standards alignment, versioning, review, updates, and consistency between Policies, Resources, journal pages, article pages, and the CorayNova Journals Platform.

A disciplined policy framework supports transparency, accountability, consistency, and trust across CorayNova's publisher-level operations and journal-level implementation.

• Scope

This policy applies to CorayNova publisher-level policies, public resource pages, journal-level policy pages, author instructions, reviewer instructions, editor resources, platform settings, article pages, metadata, and public policy communications.

• Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to CorayNova policy owners, editors, editorial offices, technical support, journal teams, institutional partners, societies, authors, reviewers, readers, and website editors involved in maintaining or relying on CorayNova policy information.

• Policy Statement
CorayNova maintains publisher-level policies to establish common standards for governance, editorial independence, peer review, research and publication ethics, authorship, fees, copyright, licensing, preservation, privacy, accessibility, complaints, appeals, corrections, and policy updates.

Each policy must identify its scope, who it applies to, policy statement, procedures and standards, contact route, related resources, effective date, last reviewed date, policy owner, version, and review schedule. Policies are reviewed at least every 12 months and earlier when legal, platform, publishing standard, operational, or business changes require review.

• Procedures and Standards

Policy element
Required practice
Policy owner
Each policy identifies the office responsible for maintaining the policy and coordinating updates.
Review schedule
Policies are reviewed at least every 12 months, and earlier when changes require review.
Version numbering
Policies begin at Version 1.0. Material updates should normally increase the version number.
Effective date
Policies identify the date on which the policy becomes effective on the CorayNova website.
Last reviewed
Policies identify the most recent review date, even when no text change was needed.
Material updates
Changes affecting rights, obligations, procedures, contacts, fees, privacy, editorial practice, or publishing standards should be treated as material updates.
Minor updates
Typographical fixes, formatting changes, broken link repairs, and non-substantive wording improvements may be recorded as minor updates.
Consistency checks
Policy updates should be checked against Resources pages, journal pages, article pages, platform settings, PDF statements, metadata, and public contact routes.

CorayNova aligns its policy framework with PKP/OJS documentation, COPE, the OA Journals Toolkit, EIFL good-practice guidance, the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, OASPA criteria, Think. Check. Submit., Journal Checker Tool expectations, and Jisc Open Policy Finder considerations.

Policy updates should not be used to obscure prior editorial actions, retroactively justify disputed decisions, or remove accountability for earlier public statements. Where a policy materially changes a process, affected pages should be updated consistently and promptly.
