Navigation: Resources > For Authors > After Publication
After publication, authors play an important role in helping readers find, cite, share, preserve, and responsibly discuss their work. Authors should share published articles accurately, follow the applicable license and self-archiving policy, and contact the journal promptly if a correction or publication concern arises.
· Citing and Sharing the Published Article
Authors should cite the final published article using the article title, journal title, authors, publication year, volume or issue information where available, article number or page range where applicable, and DOI or persistent article URL where available. When sharing the work, authors should link to the final article page where possible so that readers can access the authoritative version, license information, correction notices, metadata, and related files.
· Repositories, Profiles, and Self-Archiving
Authors should follow the target journal's self-archiving policy when depositing a preprint, accepted manuscript, or final published version in an institutional repository, funder repository, subject repository, personal website, academic profile, or other platform. Any embargo period, citation requirement, version label, or license condition should be followed.
· Responsible Promotion and Metrics
Authors may share published work through academic networks, institutional channels, conferences, public communication, social media, personal websites, or professional communities. Promotional messages should be accurate, proportionate, and linked to the published article or appropriate version.
Authors should not manipulate citations, downloads, social attention, review activity, or other indicators. Metrics and indicators may provide useful context, but they should not be presented as the sole measure of article quality, scholarly value, or community relevance.
