Clear editorial roles help journals operate fairly, consistently, transparently, and independently. They also help authors, reviewers, readers, editors, and the publisher understand who is responsible for each stage of manuscript handling and journal oversight.

This page provides publisher-level guidance for editors working with CorayNova journals. It does not replace the role descriptions adopted by an individual CorayNova journal. Journal-specific procedures may provide additional operational detail, provided that they remain consistent with CorayNova Academic Press’s publisher-level policies and approved editorial standards. Each journal should publish or maintain clear information about its editorial leadership, editorial board, peer review model, and contact route on the CorayNova Journals Platform.

CorayNova adopts a publisher-level editorial role framework that includes the publisher, Editor-in-Chief, Associate or Section Editors, Guest Editors, Editorial Board Members, reviewers, and the Editorial Office. Individual journals may establish additional editorial roles where those roles are necessary, justified, and consistent with CorayNova policies and the journal's operational needs.

· Core Principle

Editors are stewards of the scholarly record. Editorial work should be guided by scope fit, scholarly quality, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, transparency, fairness, and the interests of readers and the research community.

Editors should not use editorial authority for personal, institutional, commercial, political, or competitive advantage. When an editor has a conflict of interest, the manuscript or issue should be reassigned through an appropriate editorial route.

Final academic decisions are made by the journal's Editor-in-Chief or by an editor authorized by the Editor-in-Chief or the journal's approved workflow. CorayNova's publisher-level role is to support policy compliance, research and publication ethics, workflow integrity, platform operations, quality development, and record protection. CorayNova does not influence academic decisions for commercial reasons.

Role	Publisher-Level Responsibility
Publisher	Maintains publisher-level policies, platform standards, transparency expectations, ethical escalation routes, production support, and oversight of journal quality. The publisher should not interfere with independent editorial decisions for commercial or institutional reasons.
Editor-in-Chief	Provides academic leadership for the journal, safeguards editorial independence, oversees editorial standards, manages senior editorial decisions, supports board development, and ensures that the journal applies CorayNova policies and its own published journal policies.
Associate Editors or Section Editors	Handle assigned submissions, assess scope and readiness, invite reviewers where appropriate, evaluate reviews, recommend or make decisions according to the journal workflow, and escalate complex ethical or procedural issues.
Guest Editors	Manage assigned special issue submissions only within the approved scope, follow the same peer review and ethics standards as regular submissions, disclose conflicts, and work under journal and publisher oversight.
Editorial Board Members	Support journal strategy, scope development, peer review, reviewer recommendations, special issue advice, ethical awareness, author outreach, and quality development according to clearly stated expectations.
Reviewers	Provide independent, confidential, timely, constructive, and evidence-based assessments. Reviewers advise editors; they do not make final editorial decisions.
Editorial Office	Supports administrative checks, communication, file completeness, workflow coordination, record keeping, production handover, and routing of questions to the appropriate editor or publisher contact.
Additional journal-specific roles	A journal may establish additional roles, such as managing editor, statistical editor, methods editor, ethics advisor, language editor, topic editor, or other roles, where the role is necessary and justified. Such roles should have clear responsibilities, limited authority, and alignment with CorayNova policies.

· Apply the journal's Aims and Scope, article type requirements, peer review model, and ethical standards consistently.

· Treat authors, reviewers, editorial colleagues, and readers respectfully and without discrimination.

· Protect confidentiality during manuscript assessment, peer review, revision, and decision-making.

· Disclose and manage competing interests before handling manuscripts, special issues, appeals, or complaints.

· Document important editorial actions, decision reasons, reviewer communications, and ethical concerns in the appropriate journal workflow records.

· Escalate suspected research or publication ethics issues when they cannot be resolved through ordinary editorial handling.

· Escalation and Documentation

Editors should escalate complex matters when a case involves possible misconduct, disputed authorship, data or image concerns, reviewer manipulation, conflicts of interest, legal risk, privacy concerns, threats, harassment, complaints, appeals, or pressure that may affect editorial independence.

Editorial records should be factual, respectful, and sufficient to explain what was reviewed, who was involved, what information was considered, and why a decision or escalation occurred. Sensitive information should be shared only with people who need it for legitimate editorial, ethical, legal, or operational reasons.

Publisher-level escalation for publication ethics, complaints, appeals, and serious editorial disputes should normally be routed to editorial@coraynova.com. Serious institutional-level matters may be escalated to executive@coraynova.com. Editorial records should be retained according to journal workflow, publisher requirements, legal obligations, and operational needs.
