This resource sets out CorayNova Academic Press's publisher-level standards for editorial governance in journals launched, transferred, relaunched, hosted, or cooperatively developed with societies, institutions, Editors-in-Chief, and other partners.

A journal's governance model must protect academic editorial decision-making while defining the responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief, editorial team, editorial board, society or institutional partner, CorayNova Editorial Office, platform team, and publisher-level oversight routes.

· Governance Principles

The Editor-in-Chief or authorized journal editor is responsible for academic editorial decisions within the journal's approved editorial process. CorayNova is responsible for publisher-level oversight of policy, ethics, process quality, platform operation, legal obligations, record keeping, brand integrity, and responsible communication.

Societies, institutions, sponsors, partners, APC payers, advertisers, donors, and other interested parties must not influence editorial assessment, reviewer selection, peer review, acceptance, rejection, revision requests, correction, retraction, expression of concern, article removal, complaint handling, or appeal outcomes.

Typical Responsibilities

Editor-in-Chief

Leads academic editorial direction, supports editorial quality, oversees journal-level editorial decisions, manages editorial standards, and works within approved CorayNova policies and journal governance documents.

Associate or Section Editors

Handle assigned submissions, reviewer selection, recommendations, and editorial communication according to the journal's workflow and conflict-of-interest rules.

Editorial Board

Supports subject coverage, reviewer networks, journal development, ethical awareness, community connection, and responsible scholarly standards.

Guest Editors

May support approved special issues or collections under journal policy, CorayNova oversight, and independent handling of conflicts.

Society or institutional partner

May support community engagement, strategic cooperation, outreach, training, funding, or governance discussion without influencing manuscript-level decisions.

CorayNova Editorial Office

Supports policy alignment, ethics handling, workflow quality, escalation, records, editor support, and publisher-level coordination.

Platform and technical team

Supports the CorayNova Journals Platform, journal setup, workflows, access, account support, metadata display, and technical troubleshooting.

Publisher-level leadership

Handles serious institutional-level matters, major cooperation issues, and escalations that require publisher-level attention.

· Editorial Independence Safeguards

Journal-specific governance rules may be adopted when necessary, but they must remain consistent with CorayNova publisher-level policies and must be agreed by the CorayNova Editorial Office before implementation.

Appointment, renewal, review, resignation, and removal terms for Editors-in-Chief and other key editorial roles should be defined in the journal agreement or approved journal governance documents.

For journals published and distributed by CorayNova, public identification of the Editor-in-Chief must be issued through CorayNova's official route.

Governance Safeguard

Commercial influence

APCs, sponsorship, advertising, donations, or institutional support must not influence editorial decisions.

Society or institutional pressure

Partners may participate in governance discussions but must not direct manuscript-level editorial outcomes.

Editor conflict of interest

Editors must recuse themselves from manuscripts, appeals, or decisions where they have a relevant conflict.

Guest editor conflict

Guest editor submissions or conflicted submissions must be handled by an independent editor.

Public role announcements

Editor-in-Chief names and official public role information for CorayNova-published journals must be issued through CorayNova's official route.

Policy inconsistency

Journal-specific rules must be reviewed for consistency with CorayNova publisher-level policies.

· Additional Roles

A journal may propose additional roles such as Advisory Board, Editorial Board, Managing Editor, Society Liaison, Institutional Liaison, Data Editor, Ethics Adviser, or other role types. Any additional role must have a clear purpose, documented responsibilities, conflict-of-interest expectations, and CorayNova review and approval.

Specific responsibilities for additional roles must be justified and approved by CorayNova before public use. Proposed role titles must not mislead readers, authors, reviewers, partners, or institutions about authority, appointment status, or editorial decision-making power.
